Grand Opening of 8U
Celebration - LA Service Center
One of the most
successful & efficient Women's Apparel manufacturers in North America has
expanded its US operations & is now offering a 'state-of-the-art' Service
Center; capable of shipping over $400M of goods annually. Official opening of Nygård's
'8U' Service Center took place in Gardena, CA on THU AUG15-02.
'8U' is part of the
300,000 sq ft futuristic warehousing complex with a holding capacity for 2M
units. '8U' has slick rail logistics able to provide flexibility of GOH
(Garments On Hangers) & flat pack operation with 'real time' tracking of
each process. The service complex will individually scan over 300,000 garments
on a weekly basis.
Flags flew high in
honor of our suppliers & guests that attended this Grand Opening
celebration. The countries included USA, Canada, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Hong
Kong, Shanghai, Republic of China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Macau, South Korea.
Special guests joining Peter Nygård in the ribbon cutting ceremony were
Jim Bennett - President / CEO Nygård Fashions, Michael C Bowen - Vice President
Distribution and Transportation for Dillard's, Fred Anderson - Director of
Transportation for Dillard's, Art Pemberton -President / CEO Nygård Company,
Denis LaPointe - President / CEO Tan Jay / åliå. Super Model Beverly Johnson
& model åliå Nygård appeared in Peter Nygård Signature. The Niebaum-Coppola
Winery provided wine & champaign for the official toast during the ribbon
cutting ceremony & champaign fountain.
